How to write an essay
I. Introduction
a) Introduce your topic.
b)Make an argument about your topic, this is also known as your thesis. (which was better?)
c) State your three talking points
II. Body
a) 2 to 3 sentences about your first item you're comparing (usually a civilization or an empire)
b) 2 to 3 sentences about your second item you're comparing (usually a civilization or an empire)
c) Compare the two and explain why yours is better. "When comparing these two civilization () is better because..."
III. Conclusion
a) Restate your thesis
b) Prove your thesis with a summary of your arguments

Basic Core-
- Thesis- 1 point
- Uses all the documents- 1 point
- Supports thesis with the documents- 2 points
- Point of View and Bias from 2 of the documents- 1 point (HINT: "This persons point of view is this... this creates this bias...")
- Groups the documents in 3 ways- 1 point
- explains an additional document that can be used and why it is important for your topic (HINT- it doesn't have to be a specific document it can be a broad point of view most common that you can use are the poor and women)- 1 point
- Extra information (HINT- you can only get these two points if you get all the basic core points)- 2 points
CCOT Essay
Basic Core-
- Thesis- 1 point
- Answers all parts of the question- 2 points
- Supports your thesis with historical evidence (6 pieces of evidence) - 2 points
- Uses evidence to explained what changed and what stayed the same over time- 1 point
- Explains why it changed over time and stayed the same- 1 point
- Extra information (HINT- you can only get these two points if you get all the basic core points)- 2 points
FRQ Essay
Basic Core-
- Thesis- 1 point
- Addresses all parts of the question- 2 points
- supports thesis with historical evidence- 2 points
- One comparison- 1 point
- One similarity OR difference- 1 point
- Extra information (HINT- you can only get these two points if you get all the basic core points)- 2 points
